Payment for Services

Payment Policies for Psychotherapy Billed to Insurance

I ask that clients pay their fees at the beginning of each session, unless we have made other arrangements.  I accept cash, checks, and credit cards through PayPal.

Because I am a sole provider, I ask that clients pay up front on any deductible. I’m happy to give you an invoice any time for you to seek reimbursement.

Again, because I am a sole provider without an administrative assistant, I ask that clients understand their insurance policies and coverage, and will charge for sessions not covered by insurance.

Missed sessions are charged to the client, so 24-hours notice of any change or cancellation is very important. Missed sessions with no notice are charged $100. Cancellations and rescheduling with less than 24-hours notice are charged what your insurer pays for sessions, generally between $74 – $125/hour.

All adjunct services that you request, such as letter writing, phone calls, meetings, billing summaries, and disability forms will be priced at $100.00 per hour.  I may waive this for insignificant tasks, but please be prepared to pay at the time of service.

Any payment arrangements that involve insurance must be clarified and all terms agreed upon before therapy begins.

Can I Use my Insurance?

I am an in-network provider for most insurances, although I am an out-of-network Cigna provider. If you believe your therapy is medically necessary —

  • Call your insurance company
  • Ask if I am listed as a provider
  • Find out what your copay and deductible are for mental health services
  • Ask if mental health requires an authorization, and if so, ask for one.

I WILL ASK YOU ALL THESE QUESTIONS AT YOUR FIRST SESSION, AND IF YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND YOUR COVERAGE, WE’LL NEED TO SPEND PART OF YOUR SESSION FIGURING IT OUT, OR YOU’LL NEED TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR THE SESSION.

Hypnosis for Performance, Wellbeing & Growth is generally NOT covered by medical insurance, and my fees are listed on the payment page (link). If we discovery that there are mental health challenges like anxiety that are part of the challenge, we may be able to switch to using your insurance.
